the tank has been set up for about eight months now, 125gallon.. fish with live rock at the moment, starting the reef dig. 1x blue hip tang, 2x ocellaris clowns, 1x kole tang, 1x coral beauty, 7x blue green chromis.. i have about 50lbs of live rock sofar, its really expensive here in nj.. usually 9 dollars a lb.
My first skimmer worked amazingly, just a seaclone 100.. but it was too small for the tank, so i upgraded to the wet dry... still running my canister filter.. rena xp4.. with a 18w uv light and 1 power head.. 48" t5 lighting sofar.. also a 1-2" crushed coral sand bed.
the skimmer at the moment, is producing a little bit of foam, but its not strong enought to get pushed over, i guess, the baffle top.
another question.. im thinking about taking out the bio ball medias to use the wet dry as a sump.. that would add about another 5 gallons of water to the system.. good idea? or should i keep the bio balls.. what are the pro's and cons?.. the current plan is to set up a 20+ gallon refugium.. overflowing into the return pump chamber of the wet dry..
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you!
