Helppp! What the he@# are these worms..?

I noticed some littleworms on my acro where the dead spots that I thought were from the emerald crab now I'm not so sure it was him.....but these worms are tiny ...about the size of a fine piece of hair and maybe a 1/16 inch long....Thanks for any help

i dont think its black bugs. it seems to be the left over tissue when stn or rtn occurs

The tissue never rtn or stned....something ate it.I thought it was an emerald crab....those little black bugs are alive. They crawl or wiggle . I watched them for an hour...I pushed the acro up to the glass

I'm trying to figure out what they are before I go dipping again. I dipped in coral rx when introuced to tank. But they could've been on the rocks and then got back on.... I have 2 tanks and they are in both tanks..I've added a few pieces from one tank to the other but everything was dipped before introduced to big tank.....the pic shown is in my 75 gal

Those black bugs usually show up on areas that have STn or rtn. I've never seen them on healthy tissue. Only on dead areas

Someone told me that had black bugs and had to use interceptor to kill them.

As I said black bugs. Start dipping, yes you need to treat them just like red bugs^.

its really hard to see them even on the white spots or on white frag plugs, im going to try and get a magnifying glass to get a better look on healthy tissue...but as far as the naked eye can see i only see them on the areas where the tissue is gone( that im thinking the emerald crab was eating because it never stned or rtned just slowly faded in random spots but never any loose tissue or loss of pe...on the garf purple bonsai or milli but the larry jackson has always been a real finicky piece very hard to get color and good pe

They are just like red bugs. They eat acropora. They are very small and hard to spot. Red and black bugs often go unnoticed for a while. At first they cause poor PE and colors. As they breed and increase in number they start to do more damage. I have had both red and black bugs and they are easy enough to deal with.

if you dip, wont there still be some left in your tank? and then the ones that dont get dipped will just go right back to munching? i would dip and quarantine all acros just to be safe.

Yes, there will still be some in your tank, but since the majority are on the acro, dipping will greatly reduce th epopulation.

guess i will give it a shot with the interceptor...will interceptor wipe out my copepod/amphipod population?
