What do you guys think it is? I target feed it almost daily and even though its not that big, its mouth can open up VERY WIDE to suck down mysis, reef plankton, etc.

Its about 1/4 of an inch and if you look closely, you can see a bud on its side so its already making a baby.

I don't thinks its a dendro (dendrophyllia), I'm guessing micro balano?

I have a few that I believe are the same as yours. Here's a pic of a couple of mine. The one in the first pic is about half an inch wide and the three in the second pic are about pencil eraser size.

I think they are a type of Tubastrea, probably branching. The micro balanophyllia is actually an encrusting coral.

Viper and Carman thanks for your replies. Like you said Viper, might be a branching tubastrea since I have a normal tubastrea and the unknown looks nothing like it.

Time will tell, I'll give it a few more weeks and take some pics to see if it has changed or whatever.

I believe it may be a duncanopsammia sp. very much like tubastreae but photsynthetic so much more hardy.

Azrednex, if its a duncan, well I would have a very rare coral then because I haven't seen a orange duncan! What makes you think its a duncan?

I'm not sure if its a duncan, BUT one thing for sure is, it does sometimes open up during the daytime when the lights are one. Hope someone can tell me more from the large pictures I uploaded.

I think he means Dedro as in Dendrophyllia,not Duncan.

Here are some more recent pics of it now, look at how big the babies have become, almost as big as the parent!!

Remember, this coral isn't that big. About 1/4 inch and it is the diameter of a eraser at the end of a pencil. All of a sudden one day, you could see 3 bumps on its side meaning babies probably Well its been like 2 weeks now and these recent pics show the babies almost as big at the parent. Well, now there are 2 more babies! 5 babies already.........holy cow! If its a branching tubastrea like viper says, it must be a fast reproducer!

Oh yeah, the body of this is elongated so it could be a branching tubastrea. Instead of being wide and fat, its thin and elongated.
