Here is my set up so far any advice?

Its a 36 g Bow front tank,
1 x FluvalSea CP2 (think I might need one more as there are spots not getting flow)

1 x heater

1 x Fluval 404 Canister Filter

For lighting I have the light in the picture. This is mainly what I am asking for advice on. If this light sufficient for now or will I need something better?

I know I need more live rock. I will be buying it gradually during the Cycling Process makes it easier on my wallet and so that my wife wont kill me for spending 200+ dollars on what she sees as rocks lol ;)

Looking great just be sure to not add anything until all your rock is cured if you dont have another tank to cure in. Other wise love the set up

Thanks man, Yeah I will make sure. Can you define cured? Is that the same as completing the Nitrogen Cycle?
 
When your ammonia and nitrites reach zero and nitrates. My nitrates are high in my tank but my fish dont seem to mind to much. The anemone in this picture did mind however and died 3 weeks after i got him. Should have done more research. This was my setup at 5 months. I have since got the tank looking cleaner just have no pictures of it completely but beliw are a few of my cardinals and youll see the difference on the back glass. Im 7 months in now,

OK. Thanks man, Yeah I got to wait for the ugly to pass.
I am hoping the process wont take longer then 4-5 weeks but gradually adding rock could prolong that process.
I am doing daily testing. Needed to add PH stabilizer as pH was only 7.9 this morning.
No signs of Ammonia or Nitrites though. Hoping by the end of the week I will see some.

Is that light sufficient for when I do end up getting fish down the road?
 
It looks like it Should be im not the best for advice giver as im still nee this is also my first tank. Im using a Fluval Aquasky light that is 36 led good for fish but not strong enoughfor corals so i will need to buy a T-8 or T-5 from what ive come to understand.

hi yall

how much and what type of light depends on your plans for the the tank fowlr tank you will get any with any good spectrum (marine) t5 or t8 lights. however ifyou plan on having some zoas or lps etc you need to upgrade some what. When you tank is cycled grab a mushy and see how you go. if it loses colour shrinks or otherwise looks poor, give him a feed and upgrade your lights. if he does well you have enough light for basic morphs. some newlive rock requires cycling as the die off is huge and could pollute your tank leading to a crash. (small tanks get out of control easy) how ever you can either ask the shop to keep your rock for a week or two . or get some with a super fast delivery from the supplier. id also be getting another what ever it is in your tank for flow. Rasie the height you want some surface agitation and aim for gentle flow with no dead spots especially in and around rock. by the way dont push your live rock down into the sand it causes a massive die of due to no o2. cheers bruce
 
I have 2 50gph pointed against eachother on oppsite sides and location on the tank and 2 25 or 10gph for surface movement to help with oxygen exchange.

200 on rocks? Buy dry rocks online from BRS or others. Should be like 50-60 bucks for that size tank.

Hi. Looking Good! I bought my tank with liverock in it but its been a lot of work to get green bubble algae and hitchhikers. The lfs cured liverock is pricey so doing this over I would not buy any liverock without boiling or dead to start to avoid a lot of headaches...and long QT small tank to avoid introducing badguys in your tank. Good Luck!

Hey guys so after a visit to the LFS here is what it is looking like now. Picked up another 11lbs of LR along with some dead coral I placed behind the rock. I have removed the rocks out of the sand and placed them back lightly after evening out the sand as much as possible. thanks for that tip!

I got Another CP2 and pointed it down towards the other one so there is constant flow.
The light I have currently is a 17 W T8 Full Spectrum I was told by the LFS I may need 1-2 more, Depending on how far I am planning on going with the Coral/inverts.

I really like the rock I picked up today lots of Bio on it and these white long bulby looking things I am still trying to find out what they are. But seems to be lots of bio. But I am hoping this will be good for now till I can get some more LR to build upwards now.

Any further advice on anything I can do to prevent headaches is greatly appreciated.

You want the rocks to be placed on the glass bottom not on top of the sand? Also in the pictures it doesn't look like the water has enough flow.... I like the top of the water to look like a raging River.
I would also paint the back glass with a mini roller black, this will hide the cords and clean the look up

I will needs to ensure the rocks touch the glass, and do some aquascaping. I have about 23x Tank volume right now. So on the low side. The first big water change I do I can re-attempt this other one I have sitting in the drawer but I think the suction clip is broken. Probably paint it blue or something during this time as well.

Thanks a bunch for catching the rock thing I will need to make the water cloudy now :( but worth it I am assuming this needs to happen to prevent giving pests more places to hide?

some fish and critters might dig sand and make tunnels underneath the rocks which can cause the collapse if the rock structure is not stable.
