Here we go again... The "nth" tank build!!

I liked it but hated looking at the cord in my tank. I've ran ecotech powerheads forever now and have gotten used to the clean look. I couldn't get used to seeing a cord in my tank.

Loved my vortechs but the fact that I can use one gyre on my 120 with insane flow is perfect for me. SPS are growing well everywhere in the tank. I also had good growth with my vortechs in my last build though. To each their own. ;)

The Apex DOS looks stout. How are the pumps as far as noise level goes?

I had been waffling back and forth between the Gyre and the Vortechs for a while and finally decided to go with 2 MP40wQDs based on aesthetics as well. They are also tried and true when it comes to water circulation and providing the kind of water movement our sps need.

The Apex Dos is 350$. 350$ for a doser that only works with Apex that only doses TWO liquids. What do you do if you want to dose Mag, Calc, and Alk?

I like the vortechs. Small, reliable, great warranty, and controllability.

On a smallish tank (<100g) wouldn't your WC replenish the mag levels? Lol, you can always get another DOS and do AWC!

The Dos pumps are definitely not quiet but they don't bother me at all. I like to know when they are dosing anyways. I wish they came with three pumps but I can always buy another one if I feel the need to. You just can't beat controlling the amount of alk and ca through Fusion, so easy to do!! I also have the DDR and yes, it was expensive, but it really looks great!:)

Thanks Sang. The controllability with the Apex DOS + with the DDR looks and sounds great. Having that low level indicator alarm thingy was a great idea as well.

Hey Sang. Gotta question for ya regarding the Apex DOS and it's DDR. About what concentration are your solutions of Ca and Alk, and about what rate are you needing to add more to your reservoirs? I'm trying to figure out how much freedom it will allow me to have for vacations. Of course I know it's all demand dependent for each system. Thanks!

Yeah you're totally right, Rich. It will depend on the consumption of your system, however, the DDR holds 2000 ml of solution so you will have plenty of time to take vacations:). I use 40ml daily so it lasts me 50 days till refill. So far it's been great!

Thanks Sang! Just fyi Bionic is 54000 ppm Ca and 7840 dKh for Alk for their concentrated stock solutions. I bought to RedSea Reef foundation stuff and it calls for the make up of approximately a 200000 ppm Ca stock solution. You can make these to just about any concentration you want until you exceed the solubility of each additive. Problem with super saturated solutions is you can go overboard real fast.

Thanks again for your help.
