Here we go, dosed some chemiclean

Works great, can usually get the skimmer back up and running after about 5 gallons. It pulls all the medicine out as it overflows. I use this method for any treatments followed by a normal water change once the skimmer is able to run without overflowing.

That's funny you say that, because it specially says in the instructions to leave your skimmer on. You would think that if the skimmer pulled the medicine out of the water, that the instructions would say to turn the skimmer off during treatment.

I wanted to try this first. If it doesn't work or if the cyano comes back after a couple weeks, then I will look at other options.
I won't use chemiclean after vibrant results unless I have to. I had gha 2" long on all my rocks. 3 doses of the dirty tank instructions and 3 of the normal tank and not 1 sign of gha at all. Some people have got Cyano after but I did not. It claims to battle Cyano also. And the skimmer doesn't go crazy. It's pretty crazy stuff. Good luck though as I have used chemiclean with no Ill results in the past.

I was not telling you to turn the skimmer off, definitely leave it on with the cup off or drain tube unplugged. I prefer to leave the drain tube unplugged to prevent a ton of foam in your sump and salt creep. My previous post was referring to when you're done with the treatment and want your skimmer back up and running right away. When you do water changes even after 2-3 20% water changes, your skimmer will still go nuts.

The quickest way to get your skimmer back up and running the same day the treatment is done is to do a water change via the skimmer, I.e let the skimmer overflow into the cup and run the drain tube to a 5 gallon bucket. Let it keep overflowing this way until it pulls all the medicine out of the water which usually takes about 5 gallons. Then you can do a big water change and have the skimmer back up and running right away.

I've never had problems with dynos and do agree that if you have cyno there is an underlying nutrient problem. I personally have had great success with chemiclean. With no I'll effect on my tank

It's not necessarily Dino's but something is going to consume the unused nutrients.

Leave the skimmer on with the cup off, you need the gas exchange.

Then after the 48 hrs (I think) do your 25% water change and run carbon for a few days to strip all that stuff out. I have a large reactor I can loan you that should do the trick. Your skimmer will get back to normal much faster that way.

So.... are u saying it will work? Or it wont?

With all due respect it does not have the necessary killing agent in it to work. So "no" it wont work. It may appear to work but it or some other opportunistic bacteria will return. Antibiotics work in a few different ways.... such as...
Killing the bacteria outright by weakening its cell walls until it bursts
Inhibiting a bacteria’s ability to grow, multiply, and spread
Blocking vital processes that allow the bacteria to repair any damage to its DNA

for example...a person stubs their toe and the cut/wound gets "infected". meaning unwelcome bacteria is in the host... if left untreated it only worsens and in fact it can trigger other negative reactions... people often think that because some meds are derived from natural products they can use the original product to do the job... and it may work.... just depends on what you want to go through to be treated. Kinda like using a q-tip to clean your truck or waiting on coral to turn into sand.
Pharmaceutical companies have spent billions of dollars to provide us with scientifically proven treatments. But people want to pick and chose when it's acceptable for YOU to use these treatments. The same people when if left to their own knowledge, skills and abilities to cure themselves would be dead in a few days.

I only said it that way because people are so quick to shut people down with their "thoughts". It doesnt make for a forum when members are not be able to share "facts". But instead of people saying "in my opinion" or "it appeared to work" they make blanket statements as if they are the authority on it. When its scientifically proven that it doesnt.
I may not know how to grow my avatar but I know a whole lot about bacteria. ijs. if i get cyno it getting the boot with antibiotics.
Lastly how can something be said to "work" when it has to used over and over again whenever the cyno decides to "come out".

This product works 100% of the time when used as directed. In this case, it was not used as directed, it was underdosed and will not work.
Whenever someone says it doesn't work, it's user error. They don't dose per the instructions or didn't actually calculate the water volume correctly.

Underdosing a product like this is like a doctor prescribing a medication based on your body weight, then when you get home, you cut the pill in half and only take half a pill a day and stop taking it after 3 days when the instructions said 7 days.
Then your Chlamydia comes back and you go around telling everyone that Zithromax doesn't work and you don't understand why your Chlamydia won't go away and that you suspect xyz is to blame. It couldn't be that you didn't follow the instructions.

I have used Vibrant (would not recommend), Chemiclean, and Red Slime.

Currently I am using KZ Cyanoclean and really like the results and no noticable side effects.

..smh....Boyd the company that makes it doesnt even claim that it works on killing the bacteria.
BOYD: THE BENEFITS OF USING CHEMICLEAN:
Cleans many types of stains from cyanobacteria.
IT CLEANS THE STAIN!!! It doesnt treat or cure anything! Good grief!!! people are so unwilling to admit THEY ARE WRONG they are claiming it to do more than what the manufacturer says it will do.

Im done with it....like i said ... no room for facts here

Just because someone claims it doesn't do something doesnt mean that it does not.. Can you tell me what chemiclean is then?? Probably not because it's not on the label and supposedly a secret. Probably to keep market share.

Apparently a German Pet company tested it and said it contained erthromycin. All the chemist thought it was wierd that the label said does not contain erthromycin succinate, as opposed to just saying does not contain erthromycin. Basically it's like saying "I dont have a red car" when asked "do you have a car"

Needless to say some of your narration is correct, the rest is hyperbole

Is it "apparent" ... really?... we all have access to the "world wide web" ...
German Pet Company= vets office
German Government office= vets office

you have every right to think my comments are hyperbole.... but at least they are my own comments.... those are Randy's words you are using.. carry on!

You mean Randy the well known chemist? Yeah perhaps...

Thats called "off label"... funny that a company would purposefully negate to mention it is an actual treatment for the condition the consumer is actually seeking to cure :hmm1:... they could "probably" increase their sales to people other than those that read only the part that "apparently" makes them feel comfortable with it's use.... By all means use it, love it and tell a friend. Buy several boxes... so you have it available the "next time" you get Cyno.

Chemi-clean is the shizznay.. I use it everytime i get a cyno bloom.. Bad thing is skimmer. When the red is gone. Do a bunch of big water changes, and maybe run skimmer without cup until you can see its not reacting bad.

You will use it again, i'm sure..

I am simple minded and cannot explain things technical or scientifically like you guys. For me it's like when I have a headache, if I take tylenol and my headache goes away, then I can tell people tylenol works, period. If you asks me why, I'll straight up say I dunno, not my problem, my headache went away so I'm a happy camper. LOL

Oh by the way, did I mention Chemiclean got rid of visible cyano in my tank (I say visible because it used to be there, now I don't see it anymore)?! LOL

The funny part about your post is..... NO ONE KNOWS how Tylenol works... lots of theory but experts have no idea how it works for certain... google it....
btw, thanks for trying to lighten up the conversation.
im ibtl tooooo
