hermit chose poorly...

I have a couple halloween hermits, and a bunch of conch shells of different sizes for them spread around. A couple of days ago, one switched into a shell far to big and heavy for it. Ive rearranged my rockwork 5 times and am about to do it again because he always can find some unreachable Spot to fall into and become trapped. Tried putting him in a bowl in the tank with more appropriate shells, hes pretty happy with his I guess. So silly question, is there any non cruel way to get thrm out of a shell? This is making me bonkers

Do you mean a cone shell?

I've had land hermits do this before. They can be weird like this sometimes. Never try to forcefully remove one from it's shell. Just isolate it and provide it with better shells.

I have a cone shells, conch shells. hes in a cone shell, the other is in a conch shell. I wouldnt try to forcefully remove it. I had him in the submerged bowl for about a day, maybe ill try that again witb just one appropriate cone shell and leave him there longer. At the least, hell stay out of trouble in there
