Heteractis crispa

Halide only? (4 bulb T5 on a 30 cube).. too small anyway (would only be the nem and a pair of clowns)?
I'm pretty sure i'll only ever admire this guy in another tank...but I thought I'd ask.

Are you asking if you can keep H. crispa under T5? It is possible if you have shallow water and bright enough bulbs. I am not familiar enough with fluorescent lighting to know how bright 4 T5 fuorescents for a 30 cube are, or for that matter how deep your tank is.

18x20x23(depth) if I added anther 2 bulb fixture it would get me to 108 watts using the antiquated watt per gallon would be 3.6...doesn't seem like enough...that's what i'm asking...is it even possible to pack eenoughT5ms over a tank that size to support one? If I went to par38 led's, how many do you think I'd have to mount? Or a combo...I don't have a par meter available to me, so i'm trying to figure out given the small footprint, and that I wont's run halides, is it even possible...

...interesting tank dimensions. I have mine under T5's and it seems to be doing good. ..my tank is 37 gals and I just run HOB's - the Nem is a monster. I would like to get some updated photo's on here and will try to in the next few days. FYI- I don't have mine in the sand it is about 1/2 way up the rockwork and has not moved ( yet )...

How deep is the 37, and how many T5's? How long have you had it?
I apologize for my grammar in this thread by the way, posting from my phone is almost always a bad idea. It likes to auto correct things that were already correct, and when I got back to edit what it corrected, well, things seem to get much, much worse..

I would think that the size of the tank is going to be more of a problem, i have had one in my 75gal for a couple yrs now. and he has grown pretty big. When fully expanded, id say it takes up a 18in circle. which would cover much of your tank.

For the lights t5 should work, i assume they are t5HO? i had mine under 4 54w t5ho and 2 t12 bulb, for the first year or so.

6 T5's will do it. That's pretty much SPS lighting and if it's enough for SPS it's enough for a crispa. However as mentioned previously it may be the (lack of ) tank size that's ultimately the problem.

You might check out H. malu. They are very similar in appearance just stay smaller. Also, if you could find one H. aurora makes a great display and with it's distinctive beaded tentacles. About ten years ago I had a pair of percs that were hosted by a bright purple one!

My lfs had/has a happy healthy h. Crispa. The colors were correct, it was fully extended, and had clowns hosting. I'm not really "looking" for a nem, but the happy healthy ones are few and far between it seems, and I was going to grab it up... It was absolutely gorgeous when I saw it, but I knew better than to get it without the research. I know they have higher lighting requirements, and that was the part that worried me the most.
I'm passing on it now (if its still there).
If anyone's looking for one, a place for pets in Burien is where I saw it. That was last weekend, and it could have been sold already.

H. crispa can get to be pretty big - I had one that was almost dead, bleached white at a LFS - about 4 inches across - it came back nicely and grew to about 18x20x24" inside a 90 g. tank with 4xT5 lighting. Wonderful anemone, and my clowns loved it. It was absolutely mesmerizing.
Had it for about 6 years until it lost a battle with another anemone. But that is another story.
Might be a bit big for your tank.
