Well i got my magnet finally today so I could finally set up my Tunze electronic with controller in my 75. I seems to work well so far. If I get my ear close to the glass I can hear it kinda humming, is this normal? Also I was a little unclear if I mounted it right in the magnet, the piece that fits into the magnet didn't seem to fit really snug, also I'm a little unsure how to secure the tunze to the magnet. I've fitted it onto the pivot mount but there's the hole throught the center. I used the short fat bolt through it and used the fat nut on the other side. I makes it harder to remove the pivot mount but not impossible, will this be sufficient in holding the tunze?

Ok now the funny part, I missed the UPS lady today so picked it up at 7pm. Being the impatient american that I am, as soon as I got out to my car I cracked open the box and looked at the magnet. I took the magnet off the styrofoam, I was amazed how large it was. Then I got them too close together and SNAP, of course pinching the hell outta my finger. Then I couldn't get it apart. So I say screw it and drive home, needless to say it took me a good 5 minutes to get this little bastard apart, damn earth magnets, I was expecting someting similar to a magfloat. If I weren't impatient I would have seen on the side of the magnet where its said for them not to get near to each other.

Thanks

The humming is normal but will diminish as the pump runs in.

Their is some play in the holder, unfortunately this was found necessary to keep it usable even after some coralline algae grew, otherwise the pieces became fused or difficult to remove and reinstall. Their is no need for a bolt, that bolt is for a horizontal pane installation. The pieces are serrated and when properly meshed together will not move. Only the 6200 uses a bolt and the piece is threaded and a special 8mm screw included.

We all know the agony of the magnets, I got the web of my thumb and forefinger caught in a 220.56 when I had my shop and just had to sit their until someone came in to help me.

So you just slip the tunze onto the pivot mount right, thats it. I just wanna make sure I mount it right so I don't come home some day to have it jetting across my tank.

Also what mainenance schedule do you suggest with the streams, I have a 6100 I believe and all I run is a cal reactor, no kalk. They way I mounted the tunze and the box its gonna be kind of a PITA to take it out to clean so I'd like to know what you'd suggest to aviod wasting time/effort by cleaning too much.

Yes, but I would push the two pivot points together outside the tank so you can verify that the fine serrations are meshed together, as long as these teeth are matched up it can't slip.

The best thing to do in my experience and their is no need to move the box is just run the pump in 50/50 vinegar and water for 2 hrs every 3 months. Every other time you do this you should open up the pump and be sure the parts are clean but this can all be done in a 5gal bucket at the tank.
