Hiya! I'm new to SW and have a small 2.5g picotope. I really enjoy the colors and activity of zoas/palys compared to other corals. Got several colonies I fragged out and spread around the tank. I have some fire and ice, what looks like gorrila nipples and I dunno the others. I found that if I just point and ask at my LFS I get a better price than if I used a name. :p

Just one observation, why do the brownish ones recover and open so fast compared to the more fancy ones? :wildone:

some of the more fancy ones may take longer to acclimate to the tank. I dont know why but i have noticed the same thing.

You will find zoas and palys that are rather plain(brown) grow like weeds and have a tendancy to take over your tank. As exciting as it is to get a new one use caution on placement as it might eventually overgrow and kill a colony right next to them. Zoas are very addictive as there are so many different ones. Just try not to get too caught up in the fancy names and prices. I have about 40 different ones but my favorites are radioacitve dragon eyes, whammin watermelons and cars, some of the easiest ones to find.

Yeah I was warned about that and have the ugly ones qt'd on 2 smaller pieces of LF. I don't worry so much about names as I do colors.
