Hi!

just wanted to show a couple (not so good) pictures of my tank and introduce myself. :)
or maybe not, since my pictures decided to not want to upload, lol. well on to the introduction i guess.
My name is Tim, I live in napa. I have a 36 gallon bowfront reef tank with a kessil LED A150w, in my tank i have about 40 or so lbs of live rock, and about 40 lbs of live sand, i have A marineland penguin 200? filter, (the one rated for 55 gallon) and a cheap protein skimmer off amazon (works really well for the price), fish are 3 balloon mollies, a pair of occelaris clowns, 2 yellowtail damsels, 4 green reef chromis, a lawnmower blenny, and a coral beauty angel, inverts are a CBS, 2 emerald crabs, 2 giant turbo snails, 2 other snails i forgot the names of, and a black margarita snail, i have about 6 hermits i think. and my corals, i'm just gonna list in order of how much i like them. :) Zoas: rockstar supernova, sunny-d, purple hornet, pink zipper, blow pop, green bay packers, green people eaters, purple death, green eagle eyes?, devil's armour, gorilla nipples, and i got a rock with 3 different types of random zoas i dont know names of.
other softies: green star polyp neon, green mushroom not sure what kind, green hairy mushroom, and about 5 kenya trees.
LPS: 5 heads pink tip frogspawn, green and purple brain coral, yellow brain coral, red and white acans, galaxia frag, candy canes, dencans, bubble, and a green flowerpot coral.
SPS: neon green birdsnest, brown/maroon monti, and a small original mummy eye chalice.
I had a few questions on coral growth and other things and decided to put them all into one post. one is about my zoanthids, they all seem to be growing very slow except for my green people eaters which seem to have a new polyp every week or so. but what do they need to grow fast? i have almost all of them on my frag rack fairly close to the light. and the other growth question was about my yellow brain coral, I got it from Angel Fragoza with new wave reefs. but it had some tissue loss and may have been bleached? but i have had it in my tank for about 2-3 weeks now and it seems to be growing cyano on or in it? also since adding it to my tank i have seen no tissue regeneration so far. I have a picture of it but it's not very good because to see it well i had to make it pretty dark.
I will post all my pictures into a photobucket album until i can figure out how to upload pics on here.

Oh also, how can i get my green birdsnest to grow a little faster? i've had it for like 2 months now and i have seen almost no growth in it. would feeding phyto/oyster feast help to encourage growth in all the corals?

Welcome. Nice zoa collection.
As for zoa growth, it depends on a lot of factors... Lighting, flow, stable parameters, fish load to produce fish poop, setting it and forgetting it (placing them and not moving them) and the type of zoas.

Types of zoas are important. You can research each particular name to find info. Granted everyone has different experiences due to their different tank parameters and set ups.

For instance you can get more growth with the purple deaths by spot feeding, but you may get a little color change when doing so. My pink zippers grow faster right after I frag them. My Rastas do not like to be fragged and also get irritated and close up for half a day if I touch them.

Some people say that if zoas frags are place on an angle or even vertical, they get faster growth. Vitamin c dosing could be an option for faster growth, but their are mixed reviews.

Patience is the key. When you find the sweet spot when everything is growing and looks good then keep up the routine. Sometimes chasing growth and doing too many things can come back to hurt the tank.

i guess i'll have to do some research then. :). and maybe try making an angled frag rack, that would be pretty cool. might be a little hard to keep the plugs in though. lol

just remembered the zoas i though were called green eagle eyes were called radioactive dragon eyes.

Tim +1 to the things Mike said but also how old is your setup and you have a lot of lps and softies in the tank and these will make it difficult to also keep sps with the chemical defenses the softies use (terpinates)

Yes, I use that. A freeze dried blend of zooplankton. Good stuff. I also like the fresh / refrigerated Reef Nutrition RotiFeast and OysterFeast products.

Hi Tim. Welcome. I couldn't help but notice your avatar. I had a 10 foot Colombian Red Tailed Boa that I raised from pencil size.

Nice, I hope mine doesn't get that big, haha. I have a male that i got a little over a year ago, He's about 4' or so now.

lol @ crispy. i got some new chalices today, a nice hollywood stunner, and a really pretty jason fox robokaki. also got my "julian's thing" coral feeder thing today. hoping to get my coral food in a day or two. And pictures!Anyone know how to ulpoad multiple pictures in a single post? lol

My female ballon mollies.(definetely not camera shy, lol. they;d come right up to the glass to check out the camera lens. they wouldn't stay still though) :). the male died a few days ago. not sure why, he was fine for about 3 weeks then he started swimming around all crazy acting like he may have had something going on with his nervous system.
