Hiding fire fishes

TangingOut

These two use to be out all day until lights out, but after the latest session of aquascaping they've found a nice little pocket to hang out in and only come out for food. They usually get slim pickings as most everything is already eaten by the time they come out. Will they eventually learn to stay out more often?

They will come out eventually. They do not like new surroundings so they tend to not come out when it looks new to them. Mine didnt come out for about 3 weeks in my wifes 14g biocube. After the goby ate all the food, it would come out to eat the scrapes but then it realized that there is food so it started to stay out during the day until it jumped into the back of the tank and got stuck in the InTank filter and died lol after being rescued 3 times and I bought the fish saver from InTank which arrived that same day it died

how long has it been since the tank was messed with?
once settled they should get out unless something new was added that they are not comfortable with.

not sure what long term is as i read they only live 2-3 years anyway.

Usually, if there is going to be "alienation" it happens within a six month window.

Nothing new was added and it was a day after I moved a few rocks.
