Hiding tank trim on diy stand and other questions

As the heading says, I want to build my stand to hide the plastic trim on my tank. I would like to see pictures of how you have accomplished this with your stands.

I also like to stands that have crown molding around the top with a "shelf" or ledge around the bottom of the tank. Can someone post details on construction?

When building the base of the stand from 2X4's, should I build it exactly the same size as my tank's footprint or should I go a little larger?

My tank is a 120 (48X24X24).

Thanks.

If someone can run me thru the quick drill on posting pics here (I'm still a darn newbie!) I can show you what i did on one of my 75 fw tank stands. Description without pics wouldn't mean much.
My reef to be waits while I am in the reading, learning & planning stage. Thanks to RC!

Simple, use molding. Make sure the tank fits inside the dimension of your stand. Put molding that will fit.

How about this one. I made this stand for my 50g FOWLR. The stand is all 3/4 plywood with solid oak trim in a mission style design. I recessed the top of the base to the depth of the plastic trim. The canopy sets down over the top trim to conceal it.

If you click on my "red house" it will take you to the build thread of my stand. It might give you some ideas. I incorporated a "drip edge" and I hid the plastic trim of the tank.
