hiding the stream

hey guys,
any word on the availability of that fake rock for hiding the turbelle streams in, are they on sale yet???
when will they be available in australia???

I would not know about availability is Australia. I have 25 on order and haven't gotten anything yet. These are being made by a French ceramic manufacturer with final assembly done at Tunze. I would think they will most likely make a few hundred in a batch before transporting them by truck. I will try to get some info next week.

For one. This almost didn't get made when we figured out the cost but the cheaper alternatives to the hand cast ceramic were not acceptable. This is actually about what a similar faux ceramic rock costs of similar size- this material is fairly common in Europe.

Hi Roger,

I would be interested in a pair of them when they arrive. I had also thought about hiding them behind a piece of acrylic so they would not be seen from the front. I like the rock idea better though.

I am still debating on locations for the streams. Put them on opposite ends of the tank and have a surge motion or to put them on the back corners and have them blow in at a 45 degree angle into the tank.

I realize rock placement and such will be a factor, have you seen both of these and have an opinion?

Thanks.

In all honesty I really feel I am only humoring people when i give these suggestions. I prefer the back corner beause I try to keep my aquariums viewable from 3 sides. The flow is alot like lighting or anything else, something you will always be tweeking and their are some general consensus on the basics but otherwise it is all in the hands of the user to find what works best.

I hope to have the Deco Stones soon and am certain the US will be amongst the first to have them. New products always present unforeseen challenges from production to packaging.

with final assembly done at Tunze

Uh, how much assembly is required on a rock?:p

Do these have a method to attach to the glass or are they a "sit on the existing rock" kind of thing?

Unfortunately their is quite a bit of labor- the ceramic is formed by hand- you will see this if you get one. Then, when it is deliverd to Tunze the pump coupler has to be formed by hand- their is no slim coupler in the Stream outlet diameter so a standard coupler has to be cut in half and glued into place. They will be here next week.

They just sit on top of the rock. They weigh about 7 lbs without the pump and are about 11 by 11 by 7in

Just really struck me as funny....

TG for the weekend.
