High End MH Lighting

I was looking for a used MH fixture when I came across Sfiligoi on this board. They claim they are cooled convectionally so no fan required. They also claim their Infiniti series directs the light down & not outward so no blinding from the MH lights.

We find both those attributes very appealing & wondering if any other MH/T5 combo fixtures meet those two criteria. Specifically I have a 6' tank and I'm looking for 3 x 250 watt on the metal halide.

Hi, I have the Giesemann Infiniti and the Neptune Pro, both are dual 250 Mh, with the Infiniti with 4 T5's and the Neptune Pro with 2 T5's. Both fixtures do not use fans and are all metal design with zero plastics, the cheaper designs from Asia all have fans and those will eventually die or need cleaning.. Obviously dead quiet, like the Italian version they will last forever, if you like it, so for it.

Thanks Dan. How effective are they at keeping the light "in"? By that I mean if I'm sitting down, so my eyes are below the bottom of the light fixture, will a lot of light shine in my eyes?

Hi, the Giesemann is very good at keeping light in. The Infiniti is better in that regard as it is slightly angled towards the bottom sides, compared to the Neptune Pro, but both are excellent.. Mine are about 8.5 inches above the water, as I keep SPS all the way to bottom of tank (my tank is 26 tall). The Giesemann is trimmer overall and looks super, but German stuff is not cheap. I will be selling my Neptune Pro on MR's soon as I am in Michigan, these lights are really superior to the many cheap offering out there and worth the money, the Italian one you are looking at seems quite good also, so if you can get a great price on it, I would go with it. But before I go with it, give the Canadian distributor a call about parts and service.

Thanks again Dan. The Infiniti sounds like a winner. I'd ask you about yours that would be for sale soon, but I have a 6' tank. The thing that makes me a bit nervous about Sfiligio is that it was supported by a distributor no longer around and now it's been picked up by a Canadian distributor. Just concerned of what happens if they go out of business.
