High Mag Usage?

Yes I am using the calculator, I am currently trying to suppliment my mag up 150 ppm

Just get 2-1/2 measuring cups of Randy's Magnesium part and dump them in the sump today and another 2 measuring cups tomorrow for a total of 4-1/2 cups. That will increase your tank by your 150 ppm level.
After that your consumption shall not be that much if you adjust your newly prepared mix every time you change your water.

Is it possible that it is precipitating onto my sand bed and rock?
No, you must realize thet once the levels are adjusted to the targets the proportion of supplement parts will return to their intended ratio unless your newly prepared water changes trows it out of balance because the salt mix is out of balance.
If you adjust your newly prepared water before the water changes the dayly dose shall remain a tthe regular ratios.
Simply put, if your tank is at targets and your new water is lacking magnesium and if you do not increase magnesum in the new water you will need to add more than the recommended ratio of magnesium to your tank.

If it were precipitating, the magnesium would have to be taking something out of the water column, most likely carbonate alkalinity.

Most people does not account for diferences in the salinity of the mix. We think testing is equivalent but most of the time we fail to indicate at which salinity the parameters were measured.

Yeah, very true. I mix my salt up to 1.026 with a calibrated hydrometer.
