High quality ball and gate valves?

At my local hardware store I can get white, sch 40 gate valves that work very well and are under 10 bucks for 1" and under in size.

This is very true for ball valves, but I've never seen gate valves.

I'd agree with this, except for the fact that the schedule 80 fittings and pipe are smaller openings with no real benefit. The higher pressure rating is wasted on aquariums of normal sizes.

Hi Dennis

Just had a quick look at the valves. They look good and operate smoothly (though they are dry with no pressure). Obviously not in the same league as a GF but for our purposes I'm sure they will be fine.

I used the brand Flow Control.

I also own quite a few True Union valves and I would put Flow Control right up there in terms of quality.

For pipe this is true, for fittings the ID is usually the same as sch40.
