How quickly do these guys usually grow? I've had mine for about 6 months now and have not noticed any difference. Prior to me getting him he was kept in a tank with 4 other hippos that were all purchased at the same time, 2 were pretty big by the time they were traded in but the one I got was about 5" and he's still there. I was told they weren't kept in the best conditions. Is it possible he's stunted and won't reach full size?

He won't reach full size in an aquarium but he should definitely grow a few more inches. They grow extremely quick when they are small but like most fish, they slow down their growth as they get larger. At this point in his life, he is probably growing, but so slow that when you see him everyday it will be very hard to notice it

And no I don't think his growth has been stunted

they are a cool fish, I too have had them for a long time and they did not seem to grow for me, but eventually they grow
