Hey first post here but have basically built my setup reading hundreds of posts on here. Anyways I just got a handful of cheato from lfs and when adding it to fuge I noticed a brownish anemone on a branch of it. It's short and fat with brown tentacles. I'm assuming it's a majano but can't positively identify it so I need your help!! Only one I found and he's still in the bag I brought cheato home in. Thanks in advanced! Will post picture in a second, not working from my iPhone.

it sounds like aptasia or majano. I would toss it and dip the chaeto.. nothing on a chaeto is worth bringing in a plague

First thing I buy that isn't equipment or rock and I have my first nuisance anemone. Depression sets in... haha. Is RO dip best dip method?

Also should I rethink my LFS selection? Does this reflect the quality of care they have for tanks or is this just part of the hobby?

Aiptasia is just part of the hobby, there is really no way to 100% rid it of your tank....that im aware of, i'd love to know if there is ;) I'm currently fighting an aiptasia/mojano battle in my tank....

It's possible to be aptasia free. It involves qting everything wet that goes into your tank.

1 of my tank has peppermint shrimps to eat aptasia. the other tank has a file fish. I have aptasia in the sump but that doesn't bother me.

I had some aptasia growing in my tank around January then I bought 3 peppermint shrimp. Ive never seen a single aptasia since. I dont worry about them for a second. I would even buy coral that had aptasia on it cause I know it wont last.

I had great success with peppermint shrimps. I had some aptasia on a batch of live rocks so I added a pair of peppermint shrimps to each affected tank and that was the last of the aptasia. The very next morning they were all gone.
Though the shrimp never even looked at the colony of majanos I had on a rock - those I had to peel off myself.
