Hitchiker Star

This little bugger suddenly appeared in my tank.

Appears to be a star of some kind that is regenerating from a torn arm. Anyone have an idea of what kind of star it is?

Not sure what species yours might be, but I know from some recent reading that linkia stars reproduce by dropping an arm. The dropped arm will grow a new body.

how big is it, I have some baby stars that appear once in a while. only about 1/2 inch or so

If you drew a circle around the small arms it would be a tad smaller than a nickle.
