HLLE on purple tang

This has started within the last 2 weeks and has spread pretty fast on him. I feed him a variety of foods and lots of algae sheets (green kind). I feed Forumula 1 & 2, new life spectrum, frozen brine, mysis, spirulina and even raw shrimp on occasions. I would like to get this under control before it gets worse. This is a beautiful fish and I don't want this to happen to him. I thought a varied diet would help but it hasn't. He still eats like a pig. HELP.

I have a ground probe in the tank. I am currently running carbon to rid cupramine I had to use about a month ago. I change out 55g of water once a month. The tank is new, about 3 months old, but the tang was in a smaller tank for 4 years and never had a problem. I haven't got into ritualized water changes yet because it is a newer tank. But I will get to where I change out 55g of water every 2 weeks soon. Actually it's about that time now.

I stand corrected. I had a grounding probe in the tank but it wasn't plugged up. I recently replaced a faulty return pump. The impeller was getting fouled up and was causing some heat. Hopefully this was my problem and I fixed it because I replaced the pump. I plugged the grounding probe up, but do they really help?

My yellow tang started developing hlle after I started carbon and went away for a week (i.e. poor nutrition). I immediately started soaking his nori in boyd's vita-chem, daily. Within 2-3 days, the hlle completely reversed (i also removed the carbon). In addition, his color became brighter than it ever had been.

I suggest using either Boyd's vita-chem or Zoe. You should see signifcant improvement within days, especially if he's still eating like a pig.

Hi Jmccown,

I actually soak anything I feed in it. Not at every single feeding.

Formula 1, 2 prime, BS, mysis, store bought shrimp, strips od algae..esc.
