Hmm, what to expect now that i've moved my BTA?

I moved my two clowns and BTA into my new 36g aquarium. I placed the anemone's rock right near a place I thought it might want to walk to and seat its foot. But, it hasn't moved. This was last night at midnight, I thought it would be less traumatic to move them at night.

Well, 7:30am, the anemone still stayed in the same (presumably undesireable) place and looked a bit limp and sad. The light came on (moved him from 70W to 250W halide) and it looks like it is quite strong for the anemone right now so it has decided to not fully open but looks less sad. He is at the bottom, right corner of the tank and the light is 9" above the surface, so this is as good as it gets (least light out of the shade.)

Anyhow, when I first got this anemone, it walked my entire 12g tank in a matter of the first evening. Funny that it seems it doesn't feel like walking right now, I just assumed it'd want to find a new, more suitable rock (the foot has been on the underside of a rock, and i've now placed the rock so that it is facing sideways.)

Stay tuned... i'll post pictures soon.

Here are my ocellaris clowns and their anemone in my 12g nanocube a couple days ago:

Here they are today: (yes, this lamp is blue. I am giving it a week and then i'm going to replace it if it doesn't whiten up!)

It was so funny when I moved them. The orange ocellaris stayed in the anemone as I removed it from the tank by placing the rock in a bucket. She only came out after I had to take the rock out of the bucket (plop.) The black ocellaris looked so lost after I removed the anemone from the tank that he put up no fight at all at being captured. Just swam slowly in a corner until I scooped him up with a net and put him in a cup.

After they were transferred, they took a few minutes to find each other and then in the morning they had found their anemone again and seemed happier than ever. But, they wouldn't eat. I think this may be because I usually nearly hand-feed them in the 12g, but i'm not going to reach to the bottom of the 36g to feed these guys.

enjoy:)

Your tank looks........not cycled.
It looks freshly set up, the rock is too clean, the sand is too white, the glass is too perfect.
That may be why your nem looks sad.
Your tank should cycle fully and mature (about 6 months seems to be the reccomendation of the most kowledgable around here) before adding an anemone.
Can you put him and the clowns back into the nano until your tank goes through cycle? It would probably be for the best.

Thanks, Debi. A lot of hard work, but finally it is set up.

Sarah, yes, i'm aware it isn't cycled. It's only been up for a week. I will keep an eye on it. Good lookin' out;) The nano will stay up for a little while until everything is settled, then i'll sell it.

I think the anemone is looking better, any time you move its rock it would probably be upset i'm sure. I just fed it a little bit earlier and it is looking pretty good. Just looked unsettled in the a.m.

Not sure how to feed these fish now, though. So far down to the bottom and they won't go after food that is more than 1" from thier anemone. Will they get over this? I see other peoples clowns venture out more, these guys are such homebodies.
