hmmm...squammy might not be happy...

for some weird reason, the big squamosa snapped shut shortly after the lights came on.

it has been like this for an hour and shows no signs of wanting to open.

he has never behaved this way before.

doesnt look like anything is irritating it.

all the other clams are fully opened.

i'll keep an eye on it...

after 4 hours...it finally decided to open up.

strange. i have never seen a clam do this in all the years i have kept them.

This is unusual. It takes a clam a LOT of energy to stay closed. Thier physiology is designed so that they say open without exertion. To stay closed they have to exert and use a lot of energy.

Having said that, just keep a close eye on it. Sometimes the creatures in our tanks do unusual things.

Keep us updated. I will check this thread again.

i am thinking that the squammy is stressing a little from my ghetto garage tank that had dirty water that never received water changes with sucky metal halide...to a tank with good water quality and great lighting.

i just noticed a small bleach spot on its mantle that i will keep an eye on.

the maxima's and croceas are doing fine!
