HOB Coversion to Refugium

So I have a good sized HOB filter from Ome of the better brands and was looking to convert it to a HOB Refugium. My current HOB from CPR is way to big and this thing is perfect size. It's 8" across and 10 deep. After I removed all of the filter trays and mats it opened up perfectly.

Any of you ever try this and how successful was it? Pics ae best. Thanks

I did it one time with an aquaclear50 on a 10gallon.....I used a cup full of used sand and had chaeto and caulerpa with purigen in it.....had 5 fish and I never did a water change only top off....I had a marine land LED over the entire tank with softies and a frogspawn

Wanted bump this, so I have a Fluval HOB filter like the ones people use for QT tanks. I think it could hold about 7 lbs of mud and about a quart size bag of Cheato in it. Lighting would be a LED with Red and Whites.
