HOB filtration reccomendation?

My skilter just stopped working. The protein skimming function hasn't worked for about a week, and now it just sprung a leak. So I need a new filtration system. Since I don't have a sump or a way to drill holes for one, (tempered glass) I need another skilter or HOB protein skimmer.

What do you guys recommend? I only see a few options on Amazon after running a search for skilter, and one of them is the one I already have and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

An HOB protein skimmer like this looks promising, but I'm not sure if I would also need a filter to go with it.

I have a 55 gallon tank with lots of coral. What would you guys recommend for me? Thanks.

Neither a filter or skimmer is mandatory..
That skimmer you linked to is junk too..

If anything just get a good quality hob skimmer like a reef octopus or aquamax or eshopps

I cracked the outlet tube while cleaning so take it to a acrylics store and they can fix it.

Yeah, I kind of figured that the fact there's so few skilters available means they aren't the greatest thing.

What do you think about Coralife? Do you think the ones you recommended are worth the $100+ more than that one? I don't want another filter that will break on me, but I also don't want to spend $100 extra on this that I won't be able to spend on something else.

I like the Aquamaxx HOB 1.5 / JNS-1.5 (they’re the same JNS made them for aquamaxx). Very good quality and works well.
