How did you do it, brand, tips, and what are your results? Pictures?

Thanks!

I think I may head to Walmart and pick up a power filter tonight and start tinkering.... for my 10 g regular

Did you nitrates come way down with Sand & Macros?

i used a AC filter and removed the filter basket. i then cut the two sides away to leave me with just the bottom "grate". i turned it sideways and siliconed to the inside of the filter where the water returns to the tank in order to keep the chaeto from flowing into the tank. i then took one of the sides that i had cut off and siliconed it to partition off the pump area from the area where the filter media would go. i let it cure for 2 days before i tried adding water to it. i added about 2 inches of live sand, some live rock rubble, and then some chaeto. i also have a light clipped onto the filter to help with the growth of the chaeto. i know it may be hard to see without pictures but i will get my camera soon and have them in my gallery. i do not remember who it was, but there was a previous post on here that i got the idea from. maybe i will be able to find it and help you actually see what i did.
