HOB skimmer advise

tank o tang

Thread Lurker
I need to find a hob skimmer for my daughters 54gal. Anyone care to share their experiences with ones they have owned. I was looking at the reef octopus but want to hear some opinions.

i have am oct b300h. It works fine. The resun pumps aren't the best though. A while back I cleaned and open the pumps. The setting of the impeller I think is never the same, so it makes noise every once in awhile. after that it basiclly only skims wet, but it does take a bit of stuff out of my 40 gal.

I guess you really love that skimmer, lol.

RTMA, thanks for the offer but I have a piece of junk prizm I could put on it for now. The new hob octo's have sicce pumps. I think I'm going to save up for her and end up grabbing one. They seem to have good reviews for a hob.
