ok so i know there are prolly gonna be people that of the bat tell me not to buy one, but i don't have room in my stand for a sump so as far as i can tell its my only choice. ive been looking around and im tight on money but i know i should really have one. that being said ive been looking at the prizm and the odyssey...any thoughts?

i just read some stuff on the AquaC they sound very sound and reliable but there are several different models, some with drain plugs that i dont really know what they do. any help would be great.

aquaC are overpriced i am an ex remora owner i have owned a few HOBs and i dont recommend them to anybody.

ive been seeing them on line for around 160. i had a hard time finding prices for the ones you mentioned, do you know anywhere i could read up on them?

it's not your only choice,,find a rubbermain container to use as a sump, or mabye a 10g tank sticking out the back corner a few inches...i've done it before in that size corner tank...
hob skimmers are shyte, unless you want to spend $500
for a deltec mce600

Octopus 100 hands down... cheap, good, what more do you want? There's a couple of mods, like pretty much any skimmer, but it's pretty much ready to go out of the box. Mine had a little glue sqeeze out where the fitting joined the pump, restricting flow, but it was easily remedied with a pencil and some 220 grit sandpaper. Better by far than the prism, probably about the same price or just over. Better by far than the sea clown or the super skimmer. And similar if not better than the aquac remora, according to a very lengthy thread about the octopus.

yeah i want something quite, my tank is in the family room so id hate to turn my peaceful tank in to a headache.
