I have two Turbelle 2002 and have a question about the holding device. In my setup same part of the holding device is submerged in the water. Is this perfectly safe due to the fact that is made of steel?
It will corrode but only a small amount of iron will dissolve into the water and this will not harm the animals, it may grow more algae but it is a minor problem.
I just don't think iron alone could cause that Phosphate is the easiest to control of the two primary limiting nutrient Phosphate and Nitrate. I would try a Iron Hydroxide based phosphate controller. Iron Oxide (rust) is relatively insoluble so very little is dissolving into a solution. Beside that, the metal is stainless steel which forms only a minor surface oxidation. This would be greatly reduced if you could change the mounting so the bracket is completely out of water or completely in water.
