Holey Rock-Hot topic?

OK. A LFS uses holey rock in their tanks, and I am following suit. The thinking behind this is that the Holey rock is too hard for the salt H20 to penetrate. It is therefore also too hard to let irons out into the water. Any opinions?

I don't think that the comments make any sense. I don't see how the hardness of the rock directly equates to insolubility of ions. You could check in the chemistry forum for more information, but the actual type of rock being used would be useful.

OK. The actual rock is limestone. I personally trust it enough. Two LFS are in disagreement about it. In any case i'll remove it if it becomes a problem. Thanks.
