I had green hair issue, just went to salty's and got a sea hare. Acclimated him and put him in the tank. He is like a Lwan mower.

LoL when I first read the title of this thread I thought that Toledo was actually disappearing. Anyways, back when I had bad GHA green sea hares worked well for me too.

Not to mention I typed Holly and not Holy.

LOL. Yeah he has not stopped eating since I put him in

Here's a tip... grab some of your hair algae and throw it into a bucket of saltwater. Let it grow out while the hare is doing his job and when the display is clean move him to the bucket and start looking for a new home for him. They don't last long without a big supply of greens.
You could try sticking some nori near him and he might learn to eat it so you can keep it alive.

There is always someone looking to borrow or buy a sea hare to get their tank in line again.

Good luck!

yeah like me. looking 4 one. i've seen the blue spot but heard they could release toxins

They can release ink if they are really bothered or being molested by a fish. I have had 4 different sea hares over the last few years and the fish totally ignore them. I have picked them up and moved them into another tank without any problems.
I have also had the last one get stuck in my drain strainer and it didn't ink or release anything toxic. I found it after it was dead for a day and didn't seem to harm anything.

I had one that I passed on to another member to use and it cleared up his problem too.

They were $36 a month or two ago. I would call to find out or post in their forums here. You could also ask them to hold it for you for a day so you don't waste time driving to find out it is gone.

I figure I will need mine a month or so, who knows. I do not want to starve him, once he has it mowed down i will pass him on.
I keep moving him to the bad spots, give him a little guidance.

Anyone looking for a home for a sea hare, I have a tank that could use 1 or 2 and will keep them very well fed for at least
