home made fish food

I was thinking of making my own fish food. I have seen on RC that Rogger makes his own. Below is a list of things that I was thinking of using:
shrimp
squid
clams
cyclop-eeze
mysis shrimp
fish eggs
seaweed (nori)
Does anyone have any other ideals? Is it worth the trouble? Should I just continue to use the store bought stuff or see if I can get some from Rogger? I was thinking of making my own so that I dont have to feed a little of this, a little of that, etc.

that's about right...some people add garlic extract..to boost immune system on fish...i think that's a good mix/list of thingsyou have there...should be fine.

I know Rogger uses fresh Garlic in his. Though I would think the Garlic Extract would be just as well. It is concentrated and the food will be soaked and frozen with it. Only difference with the real garlic would be that the fish would actuallt ingest a piece of Garlic.

Thanks for the info. I am hoping also that Rogger will have some input.

i don't know if rogger still has any food left, but it would be 10,000,000 times easier to just pick up a bag from him. lol no cutting, mixing, CLEANING. but again...i don't know if he has any left.

I was thinking about that. I wanted to look into the different kinds. After I make it, I was going to store it using the seal-a-meal.

Christy and I also make our own food. We run the big stuff through the food chopper, but add smaller things like mysis whole.

Our most recent batch was
1 lb. squid
1 lb. shrimp
2 mahi fillets
2 grouper fillets
1 package frozen cyclopeeze
1 package PE mysis
1/2 bottle selcon
1 garlic bulb
15 large sheets of nori

Do you sell this? I would be interested when we run out of the frozen stuff we have.

Have you tried the Rods food? Its similar to what you are adding but theres a lot more stuff in there. I tired it a few times and so far all my fish seem to be enjoying it!

I think Rogger also puts in aloe vera...I remember him talking about it last time I picked up a batch of food

Yes, Rogger, buys a full piece of Aloe and fillets the skin off and adds it to the mix via the food processor. I agree with Maccaw Keith, it is much easier to pick some up from Rogger. JessP and I were at Rogger's house to help for the last batch and we had two food processors going the whole time and one on standby. It was a HUGE MESS and my hands still smell like shrimp, squid and garlic. Its MUCH cheaper than buying eveything and preparing it yourself. Everytime that Rogger makes his food, I tell him he should double the price, because of the gigantic mess and expense.

I agree, Roggers food is the bomb. Stink bomb, my hands smelled like garlic for two weeks, and his reccomendation for getting the smell out was just not gonna fly w/ me or Carlos.

The food is incredible and there are a few secrets ingredients that only his daughters will learn of through the years.

I use tooth paste to wash my hands after a night of fishing. We use squid, sardines, ballywhoo, silversides, and after catching the fish your hands will stink. So when i get home a nice tooth paste washing first then soap after.
