Homeless clowns

I have a pair of clowns that hosted in a large colony of xenias. When I moved to a new tank they still managed to live in the xenias at night. Although with the new inhabitants and the tank being much more active they spent less time there during the day.

We have rescaped the tank and moved the Xenia covered rock to the eastern portion of the tank. We also removed the original plug and colony as the rock is fully covered at the top half of the rock. I don't know if the clowns don't like the new neighborhood or have not even visited that side of the tank. They do come over to eat there but then return to the center of the tank where there old home was.

I miss seeing them host somewhere, and feel like I have created two vagrants that have nowhere to sleep. Might they find their old home in the new location or should I try to put some other softies in the area for them to lay their heads at night?

I would think they should be able to find the xenia on the other side of the tank if they really liked it that much. You could always just move it back right? Maybe get a nem for these guys and put that right in the middle.

You could always just move it back right?.

Back in our last tank the Xenias were the coolest thing in the tank as were the clowns. I no longer want 16" of xenia rock dominating the center of our tank. I brought the small colony from the rock that is detachable to the center and placed it in the sand to see if they nest there.

They may or may not. They might just find something else to use as a host. When I lost my RBTA my female clown started using a large rock of star polyps.
