Hood exhaust system question

Hey all,

I have recently acquired a new system and want to retrofit it for a MH setup. The good news is I have the MH setup, the bad news is that the hood is not drilled for a fan exhaust and has a very limited space for the new lights (It was running a quad 55W PC that sat on the tank itself). The hood and stand are very unique, so I do not want to go about busting holes for fans without at least asking how.

So here it is. Anybody have a large circular saw bit? Oh, and some AC style fans would be great too! Any advice on how to go about doing this or is it pretty straight forward as it seems?

Thank you,

It's pretty straight foward. Have you considered drilling the hole on the top? I actually built my canopy so that the top was open so that heat could escape easily.

4 inch hole saw @ hd. About 30 bucks, but clean. That will fit the ice cap variable speed fans as well as coralife and others.

I also drilled some 2 in hole in the top of my hood for mre ventalation.

I do not have mine anymore. It got borrowed and never returned...

a couple of holes on top and icecap fan will help keep the heat out of your canopy. That's how mine is and been working for me.

I have a set of holes saw at different sizes you can borrow, the largest one is around 5" I think, been a while since I used it.

Thank you all for the reply - did not even think to drill the top. I was really hoping not to mar the side of this beautiful stand, so this might work well. I think I will check out Home Depot to see if they have an inepensive set and if that does not work, Anthony I would love to take you up on your offer.

Any ideas on where to get the 4" fans? Is the AC style the way to go for these?
