hooneymoon with a reef?

It depends on where you have been. I think I am a true Die Hard. Most of my dives are in New York in 18" of visability. I also had a sea urchin collection business. I only have maybe 10 or 15 dives in Jamaica as I do on most Caribbean Islands and I find Jamaica to be the worst Caribbean Island. I am not a novice and have almost 300 dives logged. It is alright and yes deeper is better as it is almost everywhere but I found the reefs there pretty picked clean.
I have not been there in maybe 18 years, maybe it has gotten better but I did find the Caymans, St Lucia, Cozumel, and Bequa better.
Now that I think about it, Martinique is not too good either.

I also had a sea urchin collection business.
Is that one of those things that sounds like it would be a great job, and ends up being the opposite?

No actually it was a hobby business. I was diving anyway so why not collect urchins. I collected 3 or 400 of them and sold them to hobbiests for $10.00 each. Figure it out.
I of course had a real job too.
There is one of those urchins in the lower picture. I also had a seahorse feeder business. I invented a feeder, patented it and sold about 6,000 of them, also for $10.00 each.

I snorkeled briefly in Punta Cana 2 years ago and wasn't impressed. The water is pretty rough and there wasn't too much to see. My suggestions are Bonaire and Hawaii (big island). I also heard Belize is amazing but haven't been able to go yet (soon, I hope).

Just got back from Jamaica from my honeymoon at a Sandals resort and can say from the others that many of the dives had been picked clean/dying....I cannot say I did not enjoy it because we both got certified with out PADI open water cert and will be looking into some more trips built around good dive sites! The one thing that was good about it was the fact that we only dove 7 times and on the 5th dive we saw about a 6-7 foot nurse shark. Although some might say it is "poor" diving, it was still a new world to me....Just wish my 55 gallon reef tank was a 55 million gallon that I could dive in every day to escape the real world!

It is a great thing that both you and your wife got certified.
It helps greatly when picking a vacation. My wife and I also got certified when we just got married and for over 30 years we almost always went to someplace where we could dive.
We tried to pick a different Island every year and it has been great. If your spouse does not dive they may want to visit England or some place where you have no desire to go.
