Killer bunny

I recently brought home a Banngai cardinal and the next day I saw two of these in the quarantine tank. I've called a few LFS's, searched on the internet and nothing I've found so far looks like this. Not wanting to take any chances, I removed them from the tank. One end was anchored (in this case 1 was on the sponge filter sponge and the other was attached to a pvc pipe), the other end has this white fuzzy part on it. 99.9 % sure they weren't there before bringing the fish home, but unless they grow extremely quickly, I can't believe I would have missed seeing them on the fish or in the bag. Fish was drip acclimated, and bag water was poured into a net when I placed it in the tank. Fish looks healthy, and is eating pretty well. Tank is kept at a salinity of 1.026 and about 78 degrees. Recently tested with NO3 ~ 7, PO4 0.05, no NH3 or NO2, not that I think water parameters likely has anything to do with it. The quarantine tank has only ever had fish in it, the last of which was in it about 3 weeks ago, before going in to the display tank. Both fish that were in there previously are also doing well. Does anyone have any idea what this is, and more importantly, do I need to be concerned?

Looked up parasitic isopods - hard to tell if that's what I had - they look pretty nasty - any idea of how they are treated?

Thanks, RedGabino, every time I google pineapple filter I get hits for canned pineapple - do you know of any other names?

Its a pineapple sponge.. Totally harmless and very common in new tanks..

And here is a link you should browse to see many of the common "creatures",etc.. that pop up in saltwater tanks and it lets you know if they are good or not..

And Hello from a former Lake County Resident (Lake Zurich)...

Thanks everyone - I'm relieved to know they were pineapple filters - aka sycon sponges, aka pineapple sponges - next time, I'll leave em alone.
