So the other day I went on a little hike through the snow... Most of the pics were from a lousy zoom lens, but I had fun non-the-less...

This was taken from about 400 yards and is something you don't get to see everyday... Two young bulls rearing and playing:

Here are some wild turkeys that decided to wait out the storm high in a tree:

This doe was curious about what was clicking. She really wanted to know what the camera was:

This heard of elk is fed by the state to keep their migration from crossing the interstate. There is about 5-600 head in total, but during the winter, you can't get any closer to them due to the wildlife preserve being closed. So I can only get about 400 yards from them on the road:

Frozen Turkey before it hits your grocery store:

More elk:

Last is a bald eagle that was on the wildlife preserve. It's a little early in the year as most of the eagle start moving back in toward the end of January... But again, I could only get about 400 yards from him, so the pic isn't that great:

Thanks guys:D

Breutus: It is a Canon XT with the cheap 75-300 lens. The distance shots were about 400 yards. Someday I'll have a better selection of lenses, but those things are flipping more expensive than reefing:lol:

I'm in Western Colorado. Most of those shots were taken in in the Garfield Creek and Baldy Creek Wildlife management habitat areas.

yeah it's so funny how to very expensive hobbies go so well together. My wife doesn't know which I am spending on this week the tank or the camera!

Great shots overall. Did you use a tripod?

You guys and your eating comments - so wrong! "Frozen turkey before it goes to your supermarket..."

Thanks again for the kind words! It was really just a need hike. No tripod or anything. Some of the distance shots I rested the camera on a tree limb to help keep it steady and others were just plain blurry:lol:

ROFL @ jnarowe :D

Really, very great pics man. Very impressive. I'm in Montana this week, really hoping to see an elk or two lol. And I may be a vegetarian, but I remember enough to know that venison and turkey are the two best tasting meats ever.
