hosting anemone question

what would be the best hosting anemone for a pair of perculas in a 29g cube? so far, these perculas have turned away from a saebae, and a false rose... im not planning on getting one for a little while due to my tank being new (pre-used sand that was rinsed and cycled live rock from an established tank)

thanks
micah

I would have to say in a 29g that if your Percs wont play hostee to a BTA then it is probably not a good idea to get an anemone. Aside from maybe H. malu which isnt a natural host, all other hosting anemones get too large for a 29g IMO.

thanks for the input...another thing about them is that when i was trying to get them to host in the previous tank, they were already hosting a patch of zoas and a large frogspawn, now that theyre in a new environment, sould i try a BTA again?

First, clownfish dont host, anemones are the host clownfish are hosted. How much time were they previously together when they refused the last BTA?

about a week, i got really impacient... they were with the saebae for about 2 weeks, but then they got kicked from the tank to make room for my roommates extreme misbar black perculas, it was his tank afterall...

well you said "these perculas have turned away from a sebae and a false rose" i just assumed you meant BTA.. not sure why i assumed that.. Ive never heard the term "false rose"

haha, sorry, misread the question, a false rose is a bubble tip that is kinda purpleish, the one that i have has gone through many color phases, but it has always had neon orange tips, i can get a pic in about an hour, im at work right now... it currently has orange tips, a tannish bulb, and a green stalk, the colors never stay the same though, alot of the time its a purple color... these are really common in my area, and they split like crazy

also the cheapest because people always want GBTA or RBTA, and these are like a dime a dozen, lol, i know a guy that cant get rid of them for 15 a piece

anyway.. It can take months for the symbiosis to happen.. 2 weeks is hardly enough time to get your clownfish comfortable in their new tank, so this is not enough time to allow your clowns to be hosted. You can try another BTA and see what happens. Give your clowns a few months to find it.. When pairing non natural symbionts it seems it may take more time..

ok, thanks for the info, im hoping that my tank will be able to support a healthy anemone, im not sure what my PAR is, i have a sunbrite slimline LED system that i won in a raffle, im hoping that i wont have to replace it with a different light

heres the false rose that i was talking about, its currently under halides and my android takes crappy pics
