Soooooo glad my tanks are in a room with AC. Lost power for about 5 minutes last night, but thanfully, that was it. LL it's gonna be a hot summer. Good for collecting, bad for the electricity bill.

Stay cool.

It's good to live in today's world. Could you imagine having to deal with this type of heat with no A/C?
Even with the A/C on, I have already heard my Frankenchiller kick on this morning. A/C in the living room helps the tank, but no A/C in the basement adds heat via the sump and 'fuge.

I feel sorry for people who have to deal with this heat without any AC.

My tank is in the basement in a "finished" room. I have a portable AC in there set to 74 so it goes on and off during the day as it's needed. My tank room is the most comfortable room in the house!

I installed a window unit in my less than finished basement last year. While it did keep the basement cool and dry, it pretty much got forgot about and ran 24/7 all summer. Let's say I learned a lesson and won't be repeating that move.

My tank is in the only room where it is impossible to fit a wall unit or window ac.... So I got a chiller on craigslist for $200...

I bought a chiller off ebay when my last chiller sprung a leak. It's listed as "Brand new in box, 1 HP aquarium chiller"
What I got was a recommissioned window air conditioner. I'm not really happy that I paid as much as I did for it (with shipping and temp controller it was over $1,000), but I have to admit that Frankenchiller works well.
