Household products or situations that can damage your tank

I'll have to recheck the label. For some reason, I have a lingering objection to Simple Green from past experience. Thanks for the input.

How about scented candles?
We don't burn candles where the tank is, but in the living room. Also, the dining room is a cross from the tank, about 10', and we use candles.

I didn't notice anything so far, but if I tell my significant other that she can't use candles, it is not going to be....you know.

Also, a friend of mine has a 240g reef tank in his man cave. He smoke cigars there in regular bases. And, we have a club meeting there once a week where at least 12 guys buff on cigars for 5 hours. No effect whatever. He uses an air ozonator afterward.

....@above
I know a guy who spray paints...cuts wood. And smokes about 5 cigarettes while im there. Possibly 1000gals plumbed together no effects on stock.

I've also seen cigarette smoke kill seahorses. A lot of water can dilute a problem, and bioaction can process it out of the tank, but somebody always knows somebody that 'gets by' with a practice that will kill somebody else's tank. It's also true that surprising things don't work in marine tanks the way you expect. For instance---a drunken guest tossing a penny into your tank can kill everything. The tank will likely survive somebody spilling a margarita into it.

I talked with a couple LFS owners here to ask what they used on their floors. One uses Simple Green, but very dilute. The other, whom I tend to trust a lot more surprised me - he alternates cleaning with bleach and ammonia, which I always considered taboo. Of course, it's very dilute - about a cup to 5 gal and he keeps the shop doors open until it's dry, but he says he has been doing it for 15 years without incident. In terms of knowledge, he's one of the best around here and his systems are very open to ambient airflow.

I think the root of my issue with this client is the strength they are using the Fabuloso - and that would be an issue with any disinfectant. I'll start them by drastically reducing the concentration and see if we can ventilate while housekeeping is working.

It would probably be better for the cleaners too. I mean, if it's hurting the tank it's probs not doing anyone's lungs any favors either.
