You guys might want to check out Reeftopia.com I ordered 100 ceriths and 100 astraeas from them awhile back. Everything was nice and healthy when they came in.

From my experience, the ceriths from keyscritters are really small and don't last very long. The ceriths from Reeftopia are a lot bigger and I've only had one climb out of the tank so far. Other than that, I think both places are good to order from.

I don't mind where we order, I would like to avoid SWfish.com, as their pricing is going to be higher overall, as we don't get the quantity discount, also if htey have a "special" they limit it to 3-5 and usually sell out. astreas are $1.30 each there as well... compared to down to probably .40- ./45 with shipping elsewhere


slovan, Reeftopia is on my top 3 list for invert orders. I have not personally dealt with them, but I am willing to trying them.. especially since i agree with you on tiny ceriths from keys.

They are tiny. Too bad I don't have any old cerith shells to show you a size comarison. The ones from reeftopia is about 4X as big as the ones from keyscritters.

I also had a problem with the small ceriths crawling out of the tank and dying off. I've only had it happen to me once with the new ones. I'm not sure what it was, maybe the other ceriths didn't like my other tanks? :lol:

If an order is made, I'd take just a few (on the order of 5, maybe 10) of the snails matt the fiddler posted the info on. I haven't lost a single snail since I got rid of my blue legs almost 8 months ago, so I'm not hurting for cleanup.

slovan, i had problems with my ceriths dying.. I figured it was my coral banded going after them [he is gone now]... hmmmm

do the big ones break up detritus like the tiny ones did when they were alive?

Hey Matt, I'm not sure what you mean by breaking up detritus but they're good scavengers. Between the ceriths and astraeas, the rock and sandbed stays pretty clean.
