Ok, my green carpet is getting huge, how big can they grow? It's base is about as big as my neck & probably 30" across when flat. Should i start feeding it small rodents?:eek1:
About 3 feet in diameter is common in the wild. Feeding can be once or twice a week of shrimp, krill, scallops or other meaty seafoods. Just don't feed them food that is larger than their oral disc.
Carpets are aggressive fish eaters From what I have read, the more you feed them the larger and more aggressive feeders they become....HEY, that sounds like the story of my life:lol:
I have one in a maintenance account that is close to 8 years old. I dont think it expands more than 20" or so. There are frogspawns nearby that keep it from fully opening. Who would have thought frogspawn could sting a carpet which eats everything in it's path? Not me for sure.

Its risky but you may want to consider cutting it. I've seen a few threads where this has been successful with carpets. Might be worth a shot its as healthy and as fast growing as you say. There is a real need for captive propagated carpets in this hobby to take the pressure off the wild collected ones.
