How big to mini carpet nems get?

Got one today, it's about 50% larger than a quarter.

Also do they split like any other nem?

Pretty much anything you feel like telling me about mini carpets is cool :)

I have several and love them to death. I think my biggest one is 6inch across. Have yet to have any of mine split on their own but I have taken an exacto blade and cut them in half and sell them easily.

Cool I was just reading about cutting them. Do you do it straight down the middle through the mouth or cut the whole top off and let the stock regenerate? Do you have to detach them from the rock or can you just make the cut? I don't plan on selling any right now so I don't need to have them detach.

Oh and mine is green, yellow and blue under LEDs if it helps with ID.

yeah they come in so many colors they are just amazing. You will need to have ti detached from the rock in order to cut it and when you do, you cut it right down the middle through the mouth

Ok i'm sure there is some easy answer for this but I can't think of it......is there a way to make them detach other than placing them somewhere they don't like to be?

Thank you so much!

not really. it can be done with ice or just hanging the rock upside down out of the water but its still very difficult.

ah. Well. I think I will just hold off then. I am sure I 'could' do it but it's on a rock with some other good stuff and I just don't wanna mess with it too much. Thanks for all the info!

that is awesome I didn't know you could cut them, do they heal to their original size or smaller? how long do they take to heal? and how long do they take to reach full size again?

they heal quickly and yes they will be smaller but grow. time it takes just depends on the creature and feeding. I dont feed mine directly but then again I only broadcast feed

Mine have gotten about 5" wide. And I don't target feed them. Do its a good bet they'll get a good bit larger with more food.

where do these guys tend to attach and be happy? up IN the rock work or where the sandbed and rockwork meet????
thanks,, lisa

pretty much anywhere. Mine are attached in the rock. Since I like to keep them together I been also using those little ceramic doughnuts so I can move them around.

Is there a way to GET them to attach where you want them to? I suppose this is dumb but I wish I could glue em!

(Maybe this is why I see little corals and nems in tupperwares inside of larger tanks, to get them to attach to what they are sitting on and not move?)
