How big was your RBTA when it split?

Just curious. Wondering when mine will probably split. It's 7 or so inches in diameter when fully open and is growing pretty quickly.

I have been wanting my green bulb tip to split. It is currently about about 10" in diameter sometimes larger. I guess they will split when they are ready. At least it is a good sign that it is happy.

I have had mine split anywheres from 5 inches to 8 inches. Once they split they tend to split often. I at one point had so many I had to trade them because they were overpopulating my tank.

I have only had one (Out of at least 6) split in the last 2 years.

It was 4-5"s when it did. Not sure what triggers it. Some say stress, Some say health. (Shrug)

Im getting mixed thoughts here, i was told they only split because they feel as if there about to die so they split to help better there chances at living. im really confused. lol

Like ReefNeck said, some will split because of stress (for a better chance of survival) and others will split because they are healthy.

Also some bta's are more prone to split than others. I don't know what causes this but I have read that the bta's that are collected from the top of the reef (closer to the sunlight) are found in large colonies and split often, while anemones collected from lower in the reef (were less light) don't split often, rely on sexual reproduction, and usually grow large and are solitary.

Interesting. I need to try and figure out how to get this one to split. Any suggestions? It sure is growing fast!

I have read that increased feeding (once every day) for about a month and then a large (50% or greater) pwc will cause the anemone to split due to stress from feeding. And then returning to the regular feeding 2-3 times a week would be fine. I've never done this though.

mine was about 4-6" across and about the same tall when i got him as a month old clone. he grew to about 14=16" across and a foot tall (was hitting the water line!) then one day we came in to the office and he was two.

they were much smaller than half the pre-split size, but it was just being pulled in--they expanded to half pre-split in about a week. two months later they are both about the size he was before...i dont know what i'll do with four of them!!!
