i posted yesterday about how i noticed a cloudiness to my female's forehead w/ white edged gills. it has been like this for a few weeks, w/ no new fish. last thing added was a RBTA 2/14. i wanted to remove her and give her at least a fresh water dip, maybe a formalin bath. she has signs of brooklynella or another disease, except she is not breathing hard, she's still eating, and the rest of her body is normal. she acts fine. the male acts fine, as well as all other fish. i though i could ease the net along side the RBTA and net her but forget it. she's alot more slick than i though, and i have alot of LR which i'm not willing to tear apart to catch her. how can i get her and should i even bother considering she's acting, eating and breathing ok...?

the only way ive ever been able to catch my maroons is about two hours after lights out, you'll have to get em while theyre sleeping in the nem. be really careful not to hurt the nem. also... a net and a maroon are BAD, almost always the cheekspines will get caught in it.

Im pm'ing you

I caught my maroon a while back the same way that Tourkid suggested. And Yes, the cheekspines did got caught in the net. I honestly think you should leave the fish alone for now since it still eating and acting normal. 2 months ago, my female maroon got a white cloudy spot (not ick) on the forehead, I did my research and some told that she might bumped her head into rock or something. Anyway, about a week or two later, it just disappear. So I don't really know if your fish have the same thing though.

Maroons are just about the only fish(dogface with ich) that I have ever had that once sick recovers quickly and on their own. I had a male get fairly major popeye and he covered fine. Ive also seen them fight off ich and they do occasionaly get nips and dings on their face. I assume from moving huge rocks and chasing damsels.

the only thing i can think which maybe caused the cloudiness and white edged gills was, i added 8 new acro frags 2 weeks ago, around the time i started noticing this. i glued these frags to rubble pieces, and she was mad. around 6 or 7 times she slammed into whatever rock and frag i was holding, so hard she broke frag from glue right off rock. a few times she seemed to side swipe them also, instead of just head on. alot of force. i was surprised. i'm thinking, and hoping this is what caused these marks...

sounds about right. when i move rock around my female (5+ inches) she will attack the rock with her full force and i can feel her hit the rock whiel im hodling it. that has to hurt and i have seen her with marks on her face from time to time. that chick is tough as nails though.

Same here, my maroon doesn't like me messing w/ her tank!
She's bit at stuff and caused wounds, but all healed very fast.

Will a Maroon, kill the damsel that I have in my tank? I hate that fish....
How well will a Maroon get along with my Blenny, and Fox face?

she seems to be doing better. the marks seem slighly less today. she's gonna be fine i think.

dmk.. i forgot to mention. when i moved from my 45 to my 90 gal she was moving 10 pound rocks, freaking out, head butting the acclimation bucket etc. she looked REALLY bad. all abbrasions and stuff were gone by the next morning except this one sratch/tear/mark.. it stayed until two days ago!! its been about 2 weeks at least. so definately wait it out if theres no other signs of problems

FloridaPride,

I don't think your maroon clown would kill the damsel. The only thing it would kill is if you put another clownfish in the tank. It mights chase the damsel away if the damsel gets to close to its anenome or space but don't think it will ever kill the damsel. sorry to disappointed u buddy:). As aggressive as maroons are, they mostly show their aggression toward other clowns but should be doing ok with Blenny, and Fox face.

kttsf, thanks for the reply. A maroon was going to the last fish I introduce to the tank. I was hoping that he would take the damsel out, as the blue damsel harrasses every fish that actually does something useful, and does nothing himself. Oh well, maybe I should have the guy who sold the thing to me come get it out of my tank. lol

really, I have a green damsel in my tank and its never caused any problems. All my other damsels died off but this one has make it through everything:)
