Hey guys,

I bought a 3 anthias yesterday at an lfs and 1 had very minor pop eye but looked ok besides that. Today his pop eye is a little worse. How can I treat this?

These are anthias I have never seen before in any store or online anywhere. I looked for about an hour and found like 40 different kinds on the web, but none like mine.

Once theyre not so shy and come out ill take some pics, but for now any help for the pop eye would be great!

Thanks!

Did you dose melafix in a qt or you display?

QT tank and then eventually the display bc I though the fish looked to be doing worse in the 5 gal tank I had it in. I have zoas and softies in this tank. They all seemed unaffected. Make sure you get melafix marine. I would not recommend treating in display unless you have too.

You might want to post in the disease forum for recommendations.

I have had one or 2 fish come up with pop eye in the past, and it went away on its own at least once if memory serves me.

had the same issue with anthias....feed well, u can treat the food your using instead of treating the dt, as long as he is eating well and swimming good u should be fine...now that being said he will have some possible lingering after effects to the look of the eye sometimes, the one I have the eye that was effected now is a little protruded but other than his looks he is over a year old and in perfect health

My bluejaw trigger had popeye for a while it would come and go, i started soaking the food in garlicgaurd and he has not had this happen anymore in 3 months now.

I dont seem to see him in the tank today. Im hoping hes just doing a good job hiding from my energetic purple tang. Ill let you guys know later whats up.

Must be the temp swings because my fat borbonius had been hiding out and his eyes are looking all whacked out now.

I was at VIP the other day and they had 3 nice barboniuses. Wish I had the money for one then heh.

My tank temps havent fluctuated more than 2 degrees a day. I saw the anthias too, his eye is about the same but he seems a bit more lively since hes finally settling into the tank.

I really gotta snap a couple shots at the anthias for an ID. I have never seen these before in a store or on any site online. I looked everywhere.
