How come I am never content?

I have always had a aquarium since I was little. I had freshwater aquariums off and on while I was growing up until I got bored with that and I started saltwater. Now over the last 4 years I have had 3 different saltwater setups and I have never been happy with any of them and here I am thinking about getting a different one but will I be happy with my new one? I see people on here always buying, selling systems, upgrading, trading doing different things. Getting out of the hobby and then getting back in. Is there anyone that is just completely happy with their system and doesn't want to change a thing? What makes you content with what you have? I don't want to get another system only to sell it in a year because I am not happy. I hate to think about the thousands of dollars I have spent over the years.

i think a lot of it has to do with how men are wired. i find myself loving the thrill of putting a new system together and making it work. tinkering is more than a pastime. when i get the system together and working, get corals and fish all snug, it seems like i want to tear it all apart and start over. the excitement goes away after it is all together because there isnt anything to get really excited about anymore. you arent alone. i realized what it was for me and i got over it. it is really really hard to get over that.

+1....I am never content with my system. I have broken down and sold all of my tanks and will be setting up a 34g Solana starting this week for my next challenge. Having time for it was my sole reason for breaking down my 120g. I think it is for the thrill of creating something new and seeing what masterpiece you can come up with. It wouldn't be a hobby if you just set it up and than you were just done. That is why I think there are alot of people with several tanks cause they are not just happy with one. I am going to try to go simple on this set up. Who knows after I get it all perfect maybe I will upgrade or set up a new tank. Thats what makes this hobby so much fun :).

to be honest. I'm really happy with my system and set up. I love the fact that I spend only an hour or two a week on the tedious maintenance items. The part most satisfying is when I just sit, look at it, and veg out. From bristleworms snagging a small piece of food, to little hermit crabs, to fish, to corals. I'd like some more color, but I know that will come... Look at this month's reef mag and the top 10 reasons why you should have left it alone. Funny but true.

The problem is when we get a tank home I think it shrinks cause I never seem to have a large enough tank. Even now with the 150 rubbermaid now I think im gonna look for a large glass or acrylic display. So on that note who wants to buy a new tank? LOL
