How common is it for Rock flower anemones to spawn?

I have two rock flower anemones. My green one I have had for nearly a year.
It has been in good health and I feed it diced fish and shrimp two to three times a week. It is burried

Last night before the lights went out The mouth was raised. The mouth was tightly closed. It released a milky white smoke over several durations for several minutes.

Did it spawn? I am guessing at this point I have a male. I don't really know much about these anemones.

Any body have any links for more info?

It's very common for the males to spawn. If you keep one, and feed it well, for a good amount of time, it's almost guaranteed to spawn. It's much much rarer for the females to release little ones.

More or less yeah. Cool to know. Do you have any photos of females releasing gametes?

No pic's of females. I've only had it happen once, and that was back in the 80's before digital cameras and Internet. LOL In my case, I had a peach colored female that released tiny peach colored offspring. They settled pretty quick and stated growing into little peach colored anemones. I don't know which one of my males was the father, as I had several that spawned regularly. I'm kinda puzzled as to why all the offspring had the mothers coloration. Maybe it was asexual reproduction, but IDK.

That is really interesting. I am curious as my guess would be that a male must have spawned simultaneously for you to get offspring. The planulae must have settled quickly for you to have been able to get offspring in your tank. Very interesting.

l wish I knew more about these anemones. Do these anemones host any symbionts? if there were any shrimps or crabs that are hosted by this anemone I think it would be cool to see.

They didn't spawn at the same time. I believe they are internal brooders. The males spawn, the females capture the sperm, then fertilization takes place inside the female. There the offspring grow and mature. By the time they are released, they're ready to settle.

They will host anemone shrimp and crabs in captivity.
