Ok I just recently got a neon green hammer coral and I was wondering if it was common to have a hammer coral host ocellaris clownfish.

So mine may possibly move in lol. But I've had the coral for a few days and was wondering because its anemone like. If the do start hanging around in it will it cause the coral harm

It is fairly common for various species of clowns to accept a substitute to a nem.
My picasso's for example took host from hammers, frogspawn, even a monti cap before they finally accepted my Malu.
The only negative reaction I had was the monti cap, as they started to groom the area to spawn(it's finally coming back from what I thought was completely dead)
My hammer and frog never showed any neg signs at all.
The benefit of this type of substitute is they don't wander like many host nems can.
I actually prefer this type of setup in small tanks.

That's good because I don't want to chance an anemone in my 20 gallon because of movement and all my corals and hopefully I can get them to hang around it. What would be the best way to get them to host or will the clown's eventually just dive in if they do.

I will be. my black occ is a trouble maker this morning I've found him wedged behind my power head and he was completly fine.

Mine would bounce between my RBTA and my torch for a few months now they prefer the nem.

My pair of SA Fancy Ocellaris will take anything you give them. The male enjoys the return pump head and my 1" frag of candy cane coral, while the female took to my 5" mysterious unidentified purple mushroom thing. On the other hand, my spawning pair of wild caught Black Ocellaris hasn't gone near my frogspawn for around 6 months (when their nem passed), until a few days ago when I moved it less than 8" from their clutch of eggs.
