How deep of a tank for nano reefpack?

I'm thinking of putting a nano reefpack into a Finnex 8 gallon glass tank that is only about 11.80" tall. I'm thinking about .5" of sand, and the water level about .5" from the lip making the total amount of room to be 10.8".

I know the skimmer can be submerged about 7"?

How about the cleaner with the overflow teeth?

Also the skimmer is advertised as 13.3" tall, but does that include the skimmer cup?

That includes the cup. You will have enough room.

great! also the nozzle has a plastic thing directing flow, what is the outlet of that? I'm thinking of somehow putting a locline to it. Any ideas of how that could be done?
